Message from the SLRAA Council

The San Lorenzo Ruiz Association of America, Inc. (SLRAA) is a lay association of Catholics who embrace the vision of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila, the first saint of the Philippines, who gave witness to the power of the Cross in life and in death by living with courage the Gospel Faith for which he died. Through the formation of authentic lay spirituality in imitation of San Lorenzo Ruiz, the members are committed to the love of God, the love of the Church, love of family and respect for the dignity of human life.

Over the years, SLRAA, Inc. has been steadfastly dedicated to it’s mission and vision of promoting devotion to San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila. We now have a home—the San Lorenzo Ruiz & Scalabrini Center—where most of our religious and social festivities are celebrated. The Knights of San Lorenzo Ruiz was established to further promote devotion and assist in SLRAA, Inc. activities.

Today, devotion has immensely grown as shown by the many celebrations held in San Lorenzo’s honor in a rapidly growing number of parish churches in the NYC Tri-state area and beyond; as well as devotion to other Saints and Mother Mary.

SLRAA, Inc. is also committed to serving the needy through various humanitarian programs such as the Bigay Bigas project (which distributes food to the hungry), social outreach programs, and as well as by donating to worthy causes via our Relief Fund.

Let us continue to love and pray for each other, serve the needy, and be grateful for all the blessings that come our way.

May God bless all of us,

—
SLRAA, Inc. Council

A “faith-based lay organization” refers to a group within a religious community where members, considered “lay people” (not ordained clergy), actively participate in religious activities and community service, guided by their faith principles, without holding official clerical positions within the church structure; essentially, it’s a group of ordinary church members working together to fulfill their religious mission within their community.
