SLRAA Fiestas

SLRAA launched the Poon Hesus Nazareno (Black Nazarene of Quiapo) a popular devotion among the Filipinos on December 8, 2006. The SLRCenter was full of devotees of the Poon daily for the nine days novena Mass prior to the Feast day celebration. The first feast day celebration held at the San Lorenzo Ruiz & Scalabrini Center on January 9, 2007 was very successful. Now the Novena is held every Friday and Novena Mass every First Friday of the month. The Poon Hesus Nazareno devotion in Jamaica is the extension of the Poon Hesus Nazareno sa Village initiated by the Filipino Pastoral Ministry at Our Lady of Pompei Church in Manhattan.

In addition to the annual feast day celebration of San Lorenzo Ruiz, SLRAA hold annual celebration of the feast of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary – Lady of Manaoag in the month of May. To promote the devotion and the Rosary, the Images of the Our Lady of Manaoag and San Lorenzo Ruiz visit the homes and stays for nine days to different families for prayer meetings through out the year prior to the feast day celebration.

Most recently, SLRAA launched the San Pedro Calungsod, the second Filipino Saint from CEBU, on November 8, 2012. The San Lorenzo Ruiz & Scalabrini Center had a nine days novena Mass prior to the Feast day celebration. The first feast day celebration, also held at the Center on April 2, 2013, was very successful. Now the Novena is held every Tuesday together with the San Lorenzo Ruiz devotion. The Second Annual feast day was held in Immaculate Conception Church on April 06, 2014.
